Slightly to the Northeast of the modern city of Shiraz lies the remains of Persepolis, the ancient capital of Persia. Founded by Darius I, Persepolis was the richest city under the sun for almost two centuries. The grandeur of Persepolis is displayed in both the opulence and intricacy of its architecture.
The importance of this UNESCO World Heritage site inspired Darioush Khaledi in his design for the Darioush winery on the Silverado Trail in Napa. Its distinctive architecture and the design of its plaza draw inspiration from his Persian heritage, instantly evoking memories of the grandeur that was Persepolis.
Khaledi’s influences are not limited to Persia, however. A lifelong fan of Bordeaux, he became committed to the production of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon in his adopted homeland of America. The Darioush winery is a result of that vision, and its flagship wine – Darius II – is a reference to his namesake.
Two couples will have a priceless experience on a wine excursion of a lifetime, alongside Shahpar & Darioush Khaledi, as they visit the people and places of the Bordeaux countryside that inspired the creation of the Darioush wine estate. The first stop on this journey will be Paris – the City of Lights – where the couples will indulge in two nights at the Four Seasons Hotel Georges V, priming their palate with a world-class dining experience at Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée.
Once the group has become accustomed to the time change, a quick flight to Bordeaux begins five days of unmatched wine and culinary exploration around the Haut-Médoc and Saint-Émilion regions. Through his personal relationships, Darioush has arranged for the couples to experience Bordeaux as an “insider.” Both world-famous château owners and winemakers will be their guides to the best of Bordeaux.
Between once in a lifetime tours at Château Lafite and Château Latour, plan for lunch at Cos d’Estournel with Jean-Guillaume Prats, Château Palmer with Bernard de Laage, Sources de Caudalie with Florence & Daniel Cathiard, and Château Petrus and Cheval Blanc with Pierre Lurton. Intimate dinners will end each spectacular day, including a dinner at Domaine de Chevalier with Anne & Olivier Bernard as well as a dinner at Pontet-Canet with Alfred Tesseron. During their nights, the couples will recharge their batteries at the über-private accommodations at Pichon-Comtesse and Troplong Mondot.
The crown jewel of the Darioush estate, Darius II, is hand selected from a few barrel lots that possess exquisite beauty and purity of character. Chosen from its Southern Napa Valley and Mount Veeder estates, the hallmark of Darius II is its rich, regal style. Darius II is a deeply personal endeavor produced on behalf of its most enthusiastic collectors and friends – a select group.
An invitation lies before you.
