The date – 1811 – carved in stone above the main entrance to the House of Perrier-Jouët on the Avenue de Champagne in Épernay commemorates the foundation of this prestigious brand of Champagne by Pierre Nicolas Marie Perrier and his wife Adèle Jouët, a couple who fell in love with the vineyards of Champagne and each other. Over 150 years later, Perrier-Jouët’s history changed indelibly with the discovery in its cellars of a bottle with an enameled arabesque of anemones, crafted by Emile Gallé in 1902. This bottle became the basis for Perrier-Jouët’s “Fleur de Champagne,” the brand’s own distinctive work of art.

In true romantic fashion, Fleur de Champagne is a marriage of the very best that the region’s most highly-rated vineyards of Champagne can produce. One half of the blend is a Chardonnay of surpassing finesse and delicacy. The other half is a Pinot Noir of noble richness and complexity. The blend of these wines yields a Champagne of ravishing fragrance and style, offered in the famous “Flower Bottle.” The wine’s aromatic, elegant style, coupled with its unique hand-painted bottle have established Fleur as the “Champagne of Romance.”

Perrier-Jouët is proud to welcome the winning couple for an overnight stay at one of the rarest of all private houses – Maison Belle Époque. Acquired in the middle of the 19th century, this House boasts one of today’s leading private Art Nouveau collections with two hundred works by renowned artists such as Galle, Majorelle, Lalique and Guimard, an astonishing setting for an exceptional champagne. The couple will be provided transportation from Paris to Maison Belle Époque, just an hour northeast of Paris.

While staying at the House, the couple will be treated to a multi-course dinner paired with the champagnes of the boutique House by their own private chef. While at the Maison Belle Époque, enjoy a private tour and tasting in the 2,000 year-old champagne cellars that stretch over a distance of six miles. Home to over one million precious champagne bottles which are patiently laid down to age, it is a setting like none other – one where the romance of Champagne evokes the legacy of Pierre Nicolas and Adèle.

Insider’s Note: Airfare to France is not included. Overnight stay is limited to availability and must be on a mutually agreeable date for both the auction winner and the House of Perrier-Jouët. Accommodations are not available on weekends or holidays.
