Those who have seen an F-15 Eagle in vertical ascent with its afterburners ablaze know how impressive and intimidating the sight can be. Screaming Eagle’s Cabernet Sauvignon is eerily like the eponymous F-15 when it comes to both grace and sheer power.

Bursting onto the landscape and into the cellars of a few fortunate collectors less than fifteen years ago, this tiny winery near Oakville has quickly become the standard bearer for limited production, glamorous and powerful Napa Cabernets. Many try to make wines of the quality and richness of Screaming Eagle. Few, if any, succeed.

The prestige of Screaming Eagle is even more amazing given its humble beginnings in a small 12 x 18 foot stone building barely larger than a small garage. Its inaugural vintage in 1992, bottled by hand, was nonetheless dense, polished and deeply flavored. Each succeeding vintage has built upon this foundation, creating a string of wines of unbelievable purity. Every vintage of Screaming Eagle brims with the rich expression of cassis that seems to be its hallmark.

A dynamic example of Screaming Eagle’s ascent to the top echelon of Napa Valley Cabernet is this collection from the 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 vintages. A full case - 12 bottles of one of the rarest and most coveted wines on earth. The vintages represent an extraordinary string of successes; each year a “classic” wine, all capable of another two decades of evolution.
