Here’s to you, Mr. Wineries-That-Can-Do-It-All, the unsung heroes of the wine world. Too often, a focus on a single varietal or flagship wine can detract a winery’s focus from the entire range of its line - if it is daring enough to have a range. The wineries that consistently produce world-class whites and reds across several varietals - vintage after vintage - can be counted on one hand.

Two of the best of such vinous decathletes are the twin pillars of this lot; Duckhorn and Paul Hobbs. Although one hails from Napa and the other calls Sonoma home, both have a reach that extends across multiple appellations, throughout the Russian River, Napa and Anderson Valleys. Each will also open their doors to two couples for a private meal; lunch at either Duckhorn or Paraduxx and dinner at the Lindsay House - Paul Hobbs’s new hospitality center.

Perhaps the pride of Duckhorn is its Three Palms Vineyard and the iconic Merlot produced from it. Two Double Magnums of this single vineyard wine from two of the top vintages of the 1980s crown this lot. Merlot with a wallop, these wines feature a large core of cherry and plum fruit with a modicum of elegance and finesse. In a custom wooden case from Duckhorn, it is quite a collector’s piece.

An opportunity to visit the Three Palms Vineyard along with a private tour, tasting and luncheon at Duckhorn Vineyards Estate will heighten your appreciation of these wines. If the couples would prefer, lunch could be taken at the new Paraduxx Winery located along Napa Valley’s less traveled Silverado Trail. Throughout your meal you will savor a selection of Duckhorn and Paraduxx wines.

The couples are also invited to visit the Paul Hobbs Winery for a private dinner at its brand new hospitality center overlooking its Russian River vineyards and gravity-flow winery in Sebastapol. Named in honor of Paul’s father, the Lindsay House is Hobbs’ stunning new, private guest venue. This sumptuous meal will be prepared by a world-class “surprise” chef, and paired with current releases and library gems from Hobbs' wineries in California and Argentina.

Lodging during this two-night wine country getaway and dinner one evening will be at the incomparable Meadowood Resort. An exquisite property that reflects the grace and beauty of California’s wine country, Meadowood is where cottages, suites and lodges are nestled into a private wooded setting.

Here’s to you!
