The ruby on Vérité’s label is a symbol of the gem that is Vérité - an example of the heights that can be achieved when a visionary proprietor combines with an exceptionally talented winemaker. Born when Jess Jackson persuaded a Bordelais, Pierre Seillan, to take on the task of making Bordeaux-styled wines from ripe California fruit, Vérité has excelled - producing some of the most distinctive as well as prestigious red wines in California.

The Vérité cuvées are meant to represent a Californian interpretation of the great Bordeaux appellations, with La Muse being a California-styled Pomerol, Le Désir a St. Emilion blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, and La Joie, a grand Pauillac look-alike dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. From the magnificent 2002 vintage, these three cuvées have found their greatest expression, earning classic reviews from The Wine Advocate. Brilliant wines, they offer both power and finesse. This one of a kind lot combines the wines and the people that are Vérité.

Each of the three cuvées is represented from the 2002 vintage in etched three-liter Double Magnums. Winemaster Seillan selects Vérité’s grapes from a handful of outstanding mountain sites, or micro-crus, in Sonoma County. Selecting the proper blends from these distinctive micro-crus while retaining the cuvées' unique identities requires a deft hand. Nowhere has this been more evident than in the 2002 vintage, with La Muse being opulent and full-bodied, La Joie a stunning 98 point beauty, and a Le Désir so complex and noble that Robert Parker, Jr. found mere adjectives insufficient to describe it.

Two couples are also invited to spend four nights at the Yellowstone Club in Montana, the world’s only private ski and golf community. You will enjoy four nights and days at Yellowstone Club exploring Big Sky Country on foot, horseback or mountain bike in a pristine paradise that encompasses 13,400 acres near Yellowstone National Park. Or fish miles of snow-chilled streams, filled with hundreds of wild rainbow trout. Or ski the Private Powder. And, if winter at Yellowstone Club is a vision in white, summer’s hallmark color is green – thanks to the lush fairways of the Tom Weiskopf-designed 18-hole championship golf course. Flagsticks are set against snow-capped mountain peaks and tee boxes are tucked among fragrant lodgepole pines and signature jackrail fences. While at this exclusive club, enjoy an incomparable dinner at the Club Lodge, accompanied – availability permitting – by Pierre Seillan himself.

One of the lucky ladies will feature a pair of ruby and diamond earrings from Martin Katz, jeweler to the stars. After a quarter century of designing couture jewelry, Martin Katz’s jewels have bedecked hundreds of stars for the Academy Awards, Emmys and Golden Globes. His prestigious list of clients, from Nicole Kidman and Kate Winslet to Sharon Stone and Sandra Bullock, relies on him to provide rare, collectible jewels. With an elaborate collection of both vintage and contemporary jewels, no desire is left unfilled. From this spectacular vantage point, be sure to raise a toast to the ruby-red jewels both on ears and in your glasses.
