No city typifies the grace, the charm and unabashed eccentricity of the South
better than Savannah. Dubbed as “Georgia’s First City,” Savannah is a glittering
jewel nestled along the southeast coast. With three centuries of history,
Savannah enchants visitors. Its stunning beauty and walkable city layout make it
the perfect place to explore (including locales made famous in Midnight in the
Garden of Good and Evil) and experience the effortless pace of life of
antebellum days. Downtown offers a wide range of attractions from shopping and
world-class dining to museums and nightlife. This vibrant port of call will set
the mood for your entire cruise, as will the yacht that awaits you.
The Susanna Bella is a 106-foot, semi-custom Lazzara yacht with a sumptuous,
custom-designed interior. This luxurious vessel, owned by Susan and Frederick
Gohl, Sr., has a master suite and three VIP staterooms on the lower deck to
accommodate you and your traveling companions in total comfort. After setting
off from the dock at the Hyatt Regency, your next destinations are grand ones –
Sea Island and St. Simon’s Island, Georgia. On Sea Island, you’ll have an
opportunity to dine at the historic Cloister Hotel. Originally opened in 1928,
the hotel offers access to the island’s five miles of private beach, a spa and
an impressive list of sporting diversions. On both islands, you’ll find plenty
of unspoiled natural beauty.
Your stopover on Jekyll Island will include a tour of the historic district
called “Millionaire’s Village.” The island was purchased in 1886 as a hunting
resort by some of the wealthiest men in America – J.P. Morgan, Joseph Pulitzer,
Marshall Field, John J. Hill, Everett Macy, William Rockefeller, Cornelius
Vanderbilt and Richard Teller Crane. Any lover of old homes will be fascinated
to tour their cottages.
Ashore on Cumberland Island, you’ll be surrounded by maritime forests, untouched
beaches and wide marshes as well as a plethora of wildlife. Manatees and sea
turtles, over 300 species of birds, wild turkeys, armadillos, feral horses,
dolphins and lizards all welcome visitors to their home turf.
Your voyage south will come to a climax sailing up the scenic St. John’s River
where you’ll dock at Jacksonville’s premier riverfront restaurant, River City
Brewing Company. Admire the skyline over fresh seafood, tender steaks and
creative pasta dishes. Then it’s back to Naples in a private jet – tan, relaxed,
well fed and blissfully content.
As diverse as the areas you’ll see on your cruise is this assortment of
spectacular Californian wines. World-class producer, Vine Cliff, presents
Magnums of their Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Chimney Rock’s
vertical of Cabernet Sauvignon comes from their Stag’s Leap vineyard where over
half of the acres are dedicated to this grape. Very rare Double Magnums from
Patz & Hall represent the range of their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines.
Y’all have to bid high to make this southern sojourn by sea yours to experience!
