The capital city of the most populous country on earth will welcome the world when the games of the XXIX Olympiad open in Beijing, China on August 8, 2008. This fantastic odyssey through the People’s Republic of China and Thailand will take you to amazing events and unforgettable places. You and three guests will look on as the Opening Ceremonies unfold before you in an incredible display of color, music, pageantry and spectacle. “One World, One Dream” is the theme of the 2008 games and they promise to be an expression of China’s profound wish for harmony, happiness and fellowship with the people of every country. This cultural, colorful explosion of spirit promises to inspire you to cheer the United States on to victory while watching events over the next three days in swimming, tennis, artistic gymnastics and men’s basketball.

Besides watching athletes from nations around the globe compete, you’ll visit the Great Wall and explore the city of Beijing with a private guide and car service. While there, you’ll stay in a very new and special location – Park Hyatt Beijing – soaring above the heart of Beijing’s business district, it will be the tallest skyscraper on Chang’an Avenue and a symbol of a new China. Scheduled to have construction completed in early 2008, it will be ready to act as home base for your Olympic adventure.

You’ll also travel to China’s largest port city, Shanghai. Spend two days exploring what has become the nation’s most important cultural, commercial, financial and industrial center. With your local guide, you’ll visit places like Shanghai’s Old Town, Yu Garden (a traditional Chinese garden featuring a rockery and a 400-year old maidenhair tree), Shanghai Museum, The Bund, French Concession, Jade Buddha Temple and China’s premier shopping street, Nanjing Road. In addition, you’ll see a local acrobatic show on your first night in Shanghai and travel to Zhujiajiao – an ancient water town, known for its distinctive and old bridges built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

One night in Bangkok and the world’s your oyster – so imagine how wonderful two nights will be! You’ll do more sightseeing in this fascinating, vibrant and colorful city where skyscrapers mingle with historical temples. Visit klongs (ancient canals) via a private longtail boat, see the Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha Temple along with the Jim Thompson House and Silk Shop.

In Chiang Mai, Thailand, you’ll get to ride elephants in an exquisitely exotic setting. The city has a striking mountain backdrop, over 300 temples and a quaint historical aura. You can still see the moat that encircled the original settlement, founded in 1296.

Your Asian adventure ends with three nights in Hong Kong – a city where east meets west. With its colorful street markets, serene temples, exciting nightlife, endless shopping and unforgettable cuisine there may be no other destination like it in the world. Your farewell dinner will be at the private, trendy China Club.
