Out-of-this-world wines are now made here and across the pond. This multi-national package takes you on a journey to discover the differences and similarities of Old World Italian vintages and New World Oregon wines. The fun begins immediately with two massive “collections” of wine. In addition to wines from Lingua Franca and Valdicava – NCEF Trustees have also reached into their cellars and generously donated 52 bottles, one, a collection of New World wines and the other, a collection of Old World wines. So, you’ll enjoy a bottle a week for an entire year.

At convenient times to be determined, you’ll take two separate trips, one to the Lingua Franca Estate Vineyard in Oregon and another to the Valdicava Estate in Italy. In Oregon you’ll stay at The Allison Inn & Spa in the Willamette Valley for three nights in Penthouse Level Deluxe King rooms. Thoughtfully placed on 35 hillside acres, with seven scenic acres of estate vineyards, you’ll enjoy an unmatched resort experience amid the lush natural beauty of the Willamette Valley. Lodging features gas fireplaces, terrace or balcony, and spa-like bathrooms providing warm, inviting accommodations with the amenities you’d expect. The Allison Spa boasts 12 treatment rooms, a fitness studio, indoor swimming pool, whirlpool and pool terrace to ensure you feel your best, while The Allison Salon offers manicure and pedicure services. Get a taste of authentic Oregon wine country cuisine at JORY Restaurant & Bar, the acclaimed on-site restaurant and wine cellar.

Your experience includes private time with Master Sommelier and Lingua Franca Founder, Larry Stone. He will guide you on your exclusive visit to the Lingua Franca Estate Vineyard and state-of-the-art winery for an in-depth exploration of the Eola-Amity Hills. Discover firsthand why wines crafted by Thomas Savre are so unique. A delightful winemaker luncheon either between the vines al fresco in spring or summer, or in the Tasting Tent with wood-burning stove in the fall, includes both Thomas and Larry plus Lingua Franca’s own Food & Wine award-winning chef, Joshua Wludyka who will prepare the feast. The last day is all about tours and tastings with proprietors and winemakers at wineries selected by Larry. That evening wrap-up your visit with a final dinner hosted by the Lingua Franca team.

When you jet off to Italy, you’ll enjoy two nights at the historic Hotel dei Capitani in Montalcino, nestled in the 18th-century “Catasto Leopoldino.” Step back in time in a luxury structure in use since the Middle Ages, with splendid views of the Val d’Orcia and the Val d’Arbia. Enjoy a large, panoramic garden complete with swimming pool that resembles a medieval fountain.

Your exclusive activities in Tuscany include a private tour and tasting in the cellar at Valdicava, famous for creating wine with a delicate balance of body and aromas. You’ll lunch at Boccon Divino where the Fiorani Family presents the genuine flavors of the region in a breathtaking setting high above the rolling hills. Share your passion for wine at a special private dinner with winemakers Vincenzo Abbruzzese and his son, PierFilippo. The conversation is sure to be as lively and the cuisine.

Your visit to romantic, compact Siena includes a city replete with beautiful Medieval buildings, some dating back to the Etruscan era. Today its distinctive urban skyline is visible from the hills that surround it; rich in monuments, palaces and churches, it is one of the most beautiful Italian towns you’ll find. Walk the vast Piazza del Campo, considered one of Europe’s greatest medieval squares. Relax, sip a coffee and watch the world go by.

Dinner at Tre Cristi Restaurant crowns your time here. Located in the heart of Siena, close to the 17th-century Collegiate of Santa Maria di Provenzano, it takes its name from the ancient shrine, which marks the crossroads formed by San Pietro a Ovile street and Provenzano Salvani street. The shrine houses the famous image of Christ between the two thieves: “The Three Christs.” The restaurateur’s attention to ingredients and great passion for details make Tre Cristi a showcase of taste.

After all that fun, return home to your cellar smartly stocked with your “one wine per week” collection of the best from the Old and New world.

Enough talk, put a cork in it and bid now…the best of old and new awaits!
