One hundred years is something to celebrate, which is why we’re proposing a centennial-sized toast to this auction lot, which blends one famed family’s personal winemaking journey with your own personal wine creation adventure!

Pritchard Hill, high on the east side of the Napa Valley, proved to be the perfect spot for Continuum Estate, a Napa Valley “first growth” started in 2005 by Tim Mondavi, with his sister Marcia, father Robert and their families. For Tim, Continuum is the new beginning after over 30 years in winemaking the world over, and the continuation of four generations (and 100 years!) of bringing wine to the American table. Each year, Continuum is made from a uniquely balanced combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. In 2013, after years of inspiration and a love of the cool rugged expanses of the Sonoma Coast, two of Tim’s sons, Carlo and Dante struck out on their own, founding RAEN Winery and seeking to produce a world-class Pinot Noir from the western hills of Sonoma County.

This auction lot springs from this latest chapter in the Mondavi Family winemaking legacy. Yes, the fortunate winners of this lot have the chance to quite literally taste American winemaking history, receiving seven bottles of wine, including one 9 Liter equivalent of 2019 Continuum and two 3 Liters of 2019 RAEN Sonoma Coast Royal St. Robert Pinot Noir, both of which represent an unbroken string of 100 harvests. They’ll also take home six Magnums of 2019 RAEN Pinot Noir library wines, including two each of RAEN Sonoma Coast Royal St. Robert, RAEN Fort Ross Seaview Home Field Vineyard and RAEN Freestone Occidental Bodega Vineyard.

Finally, we can’t forget the 9 Liter equivalent of a “personal” blend from Continuum Estate’s Sage Mountain Vineyard wine lot. For the two fortunate couples who capture this auction lot, your itinerary includes a special technical vineyard tour with Tim Mondavi as your exclusive consultant, all followed by a blending seminar accessing current Continuum Estate’s Sage Mountain vineyard lots, so you may blissfully blend your own aforementioned 9 Liters of wine. But that – and a special dinner at Continuum Estate – mark the culmination of your four-day visit to Napa and Sonoma. Prior to then, you’ll also enjoy three remarkable days of discovery, exploring the latest frontier in the Mondavi Family’s 100 years of wine.

Your trip begins with your arrival in Sonoma, and two nights’ accommodations at the SingleThread Inn in Healdsburg. On day two, you’ll journey out to the extreme Sonoma Coast with Carlo Mondavi, taking a morning vineyard tour, followed by a picnic lunch with him in the vineyards. Later, enjoy a private tour of the SingleThread Farm with chef Kyle Connaughton and his wife, farmer Katina, culminating with dinner at SingleThread Restaurant in the private dining room, complemented by RAEN Wines, Carlo’s favorite wines of the world and historical Robert Mondavi Pinot Noirs. This lineup will surely showcase the tremendous tenure of Tim Mondavi’s winemaking history in Pinot Noir.

Day three is all about Napa, where you’ll check in for two nights to the luxurious resort Auberge du Soleil. Enjoy a spa treatment before heading to the home of Tim Mondavi, where you’ll savor a seasonally-inspired tasting menu prepared by chef Sarah Scott and paired with Continuum wines, as well as highlights from Tim’s personal cellar.

Now, isn’t it time you put your paddle’s personal touch on this auction lot?
