Red is a color that sets our hearts racing and our pulses pounding — and in the case of this lot, our paddles waving, too.
We start with red wine. The two fortunate couples who take home this lot will receive an incredibly rare and exceptional Balthazar of COS100—one of only ten produced—created in honor of the 100th anniversary of “Parcelle des Femmes,” a revered plot located within the heart of the Cos d’Estournel vineyards and planted by courageous women during World War I.
They will also have the opportunity to experience the vineyards firsthand when they head to Bordeaux for a one-night stay at La Chartreuse de Cos d’Estournel. The private family guesthouse of Cos d’Estournel owner, Michel Reybier sits at the heart of the vineyard. The private accommodations for you and your three guests include dedicated staff, two Suites and six bedrooms, a library, a dining room, a lounge, an indoor swimming pool, a gym and a steam room. In the basement, you will find a hammam, a treatment room and a small heated pool with a current against which to swim. The terrace, with superb views of the garden and outdoor swimming pool, is available for al fresco dining.
During your stay at La Chartreuse, go behind-the-scenes to experience life on the vineyard. As a special guest of the Estate, you will be guided through the winemaking process by the technical team, while enjoying a private, in-depth tour of the vineyard, and a tasting of prestigious Cos d’Estournel wines. You will also enjoy a private tour of their gravity-flow cellar, which is packed with bottles of Cos d’Estournel dating back to 1887. Your evening will be capped off with a gourmet dinner prepared for you by the estate chef with local produce and paired with wines from the property.
Literally translated as “The Hill of Pebbles,” Cos d’Estournel’s elevation and gravelly soil contribute to the intensity of the wines produced from the Château’s 247 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. One of the original “Super Seconds,” connoisseurs and critics alike believe it is today on a par with the Premier Crus. As a special souvenir of your visit, you’ll take home one of only ten Balthazar bottles produced of the 2015 COS 100, engraved and presented in a special, bespoke leather and wooden display case.
Your French journey continues with red-soled shoes. In Paris, you and your traveling companions will spend three nights at the plush Mandarin Oriental, Paris located on the famed Rue Saint-Honoré. But your ultimate destination is Paris Fashion Week, and along the way you will meet the man who has helped to elevate the high heel: Christian Louboutin himself.
You’ll have the chance to meet Christian over cocktails (and have a photo opportunity), and to attend his Paris Fashion Show in September 2019 exclusively as his personal guests. But that’s hardly all: This excursion is also your time to enjoy an exclusive Paris shopping experience in the company of Christian’s personal attaché, Caroline Trevola, as well as an exclusive tour of Christian’s workshop.
As a special keepsake, Christian will gift the winners of this lot with two, limited-edition bespoke handbags, made just for them and perfect for gala wear. You’ll also have the choice between taking home either two personalized and signed Paloma clutches, ideal for cocktail wear—or two pairs of Christian Louboutin’s famous red-soled shoes that have also been personalized and signed!
Everything better in red — including winning bids!
Airfare to France and ground transportation in Paris and Bordeaux is not included. Visit to Bordeaux is subject to availability with advance reservations. While the dates for Paris Fashion Week in 2019 dates are tentatively confirmed for September 25–October 3, 2019, the exact date of the Fashion Show will be determined after the Auction.
