The legendary columnist Herb Caen had this observation to make about the afterlife: “One day if I go to heaven, I’ll look around and say, ‘It ain’t bad, but it ain’t San Francisco.”
Indeed, the City by the Bay has inspired legions of fans – literary and otherwise – and if you count yourself among them, you won’t want to miss this divine auction lot, which bridges the best of San Francisco and the wine country in an immersive experience. Together, three discerning couples will soak up the sights, smells and savory epicurean delights of a West Coast getaway, as well as a cache of limited wines from the Knights Bridge library.
Your journey begins in San Francisco, where you will check in for a one-night sojourn at The St. Regis hotel, a luxury five-star property melding extraordinary hospitality with modern sophistication. After a day of self-guided sightseeing, dinner will be hosted at the Michelin-starred, Wine Spectator and James Beard award-winning restaurant Quince. With its own certified organic farm, Quince is the quintessential farm-to-table dining experience, and your evening will be complemented by an award-winning selection of Knights Bridge wines.
On day two, you will travel over the Golden Gate Bridge to the charm-filled Sausalito, where you’ll board a luxury yacht for a tour of the San Francisco Bay. An exquisite picnic of curated Northern California treats and Knights Bridge wines will accompany you on your journey. After a day of sophisticated relaxation, you’ll say a fond farewell to San Francisco, and continue on your journey to Knights Valley, where you’ll spend the next three days delighting in the bounty of wine country.
Home to Knights Bridge Estate and one of the most bucolic locations in California wine country, Knights Valley is one of the original five Sonoma County appellations. It is here that Knights Bridge co-founder Jim Bailey built his home, high above the hills of Knights Bridge vineyard. Designed by award-winning architect Howard Backen, the home is a hillside sanctuary overlooking the valley floor and with sweeping views of Mt. St. Helena. This perfectly appointed estate will be home for the next three nights, and each couple can luxuriate in their private Suites at the Estate. To relax and recharge, guests may refresh with a swim in the infinity pool, take a hike through the wooded hillside, or simply revel in the peace of Knights Valley.
While at the estate, your itinerary includes numerous epicurean experiences. Look forward to a farm-to-table dinner curated by Jim’s executive chef and featuring carefully selected wines from the 5,000-bottle estate wine cellar. You’ll also embark on a private tour of the Knights Bridge vineyard, hosted by director of winemaking Douglas Danielak, named a “Winemaker to Watch” by Wine Spectator, as well as a private tasting at The Vault, the exclusive tasting salon designed by Howard Backen for Knights Bridge located in the historic Calistoga National Bank Building. Plan for private tastings at Lokoya, Dana Estate and The Napa Valley Reserve as well.
Your journey also includes lunch at the Michelin-starred Solbar, located at the award-winning Solage Resort in Calistoga; dinner at the Michelin-starred SingleThread, featuring artisan cuisine from SingleThread Farm; lunch at the Three-starred Michelin restaurant, The French Laundry, prepared with fresh ingredients from its on-site garden; and dinner at the Three-starred Michelin restaurant at Meadowood, renowned for its sustainably farmed California cuisine.
In addition to the unparalleled wine, food and hospitality of this experience, the winning bidders will also take home a once-in-a-cellar selection of limited production Knights Bridge Estate wines.
