One (1) 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 Wagon featuring Diamond White Metallic exterior, Macchiato Beige and Espresso Brown interior, 4.0L V8 biturbo engine, exclusive Nappa leather and AMG red-painted brake calipers
It’s easy: Just pick up your friends and family in your new 2021 Mercedes-AMG G63 and take them for a spin on the open road, letting the nearly 600 horsepower run wild.
Few vehicles have had as many incarnations as the Mercedes G Class. It began as a military vehicle in 1979 but eventually spawned a civilian version. After off-road enthusiasts noticed how nimble it was over rough terrain, it became the king of all-terrain driving with locking differentials in the front, middle and rear. Then the Hummer made Jeep-like vehicles all the rage, and the G Class came into its own: The power train became larger and more forceful, and celebrities began making the brand famous as a symbol of excess.
What’s the essence of the G Class? Car and Driver summed it up aptly:
“The 2021 Mercedes-AMG G63 is all about making things seem effortless, whether that’s blasting down the autobahn with the speedometer in the triple digits or crawling rocks in Moab at single-digit speeds. It also will undoubtedly make your valet experience effortless as those guys are sure to leave your truck up front… Living so effortlessly comes at a price, but if you’re rich enough to afford one, the G63 is worth the investment.”
All clues and superlatives inevitably lead to the engine. The 2021 AMG G63 has a 577-horsepower, twin turbo V-8 under the hood, with 626 lb-ft of torque and a top speed of 186 mph in a nine-speed automatic transmission. Even weighing in at nearly 6,000 pounds, it accelerates from zero to 60 mph in only 3.9 seconds! Specifically designed suspension tuning makes the ride supremely comfortable.
The interior combines space-age technology with the ultimate in luxury. For starters, there’s no lack of space: the cabin accommodates five large adults in comfort. The Exclusive Interior Package provides Nappa leather seats with diamond stitching and multi-contour front seats with massage function. You’ll have 38 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats up, while folding them down (60/40 split) gives almost 69 cubic feet.
Each passenger will be thrilled with the tech fine points. The G63 comes with dual USB audio ports, Bluetooth audio streaming and a 15-speaker Burmester surround sound system for blasting out your favorite tunes. For the driver, there are two 12.3-inch high-resolution displays as well as enhanced voice control. The unique COMAND system (Cockpit Management and Data) gives you intuitive, one-touch access to entertainment and navigation.
Safety has not been sacrificed in the name of speed. Before you take those friends or family out on the road, be aware the 2021 G Class comes with four standard safety features. Active Brake Assist is radar-based technology that will alert you if you’re approaching another vehicle or pedestrians at a dangerous rate of speed; the system will monitor your rate of braking to avoid a collision or reduce its impact, and even initiate braking automatically if you fail to respond. Attention Assist will automatically alert you with warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness. This vehicle also offers Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call. If your car deploys and activates an air bag, Mercedes-Benz Emergency Services will be automatically notified with your GPS-determined location. And don’t forget about Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, a cruise control system that monitors and adjusts your speed according to the flow of traffic.
“If feeling like a celebrity on your daily commute is important to you,” said Car and Driver, “the G63 comes with that feature as standard.” Discover why it has been called “excess at its best.”
