Perhaps you have always dreamed of becoming a winemaker, taking the time to envision every tiny detail of what your life would look like, right down to how you’d decorate the label of your first vintage. But you know this is merely a fantasy; after all, you don’t hail from a family of famed winemakers, and plunging a fortune into a vineyard with no knowledge of the craft is pure folly.
Happily, dreams can come true, thanks to this engaging experience. VINIV provides rare access to Bordeaux’s winemaking inner circle, enabling a select few to produce and brand a bespoke Bordeaux under the expert tutelage of the team at Château Lynch-Bages. You’ll embark on an inspirational journey that will culminate in the creation of a Classified Growth quality wine that will be yours to share with family and friends at every celebration.
During your stay, you will visit several of VINIV’s vineyards and participate in the personalized blending session of your wine with the technical director of Château Lynch-Bages. As a part of the journey, you will also create your brand and label with the support of an internationally-recognized design team. When it’s all complete, you will be able to proudly proclaim yourself true winemakers, having created – and, yes, even branded – twelve cases of a one-of-a-kind wine produced from your selection of Classified Growth quality vineyards across Bordeaux’s most prestigious appellations, including Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe, Margaux, Pomerol and Saint-Émilion.
Is it too early to begin imagining the envy on the faces of your friends when you uncork a bottle of your very own vintage and offer them a glass? And if that’s not enough to turn them green with envy, maybe this will be: the Cazes Family is also generously adding a Jeroboam of 2000 Château Lynch-Bages, personally signed by Lynch-Bages CEO Jean-Charles Cazes, to this unique experience.
But this trip is far from over. Additionally, this experience grants one couple a guided, sneak peek VIP tour of the new Lynch-Bages winemaking facility, which has been designed by architect Chien Chung Pei and is set to become operational in September 2019. The tour will also provide a chance to enjoy a private tasting of Cazes Family wines.
Other personalized comforts include a lunch at Café Lavinal in the village of Bages with VINIV founder, Stephen Bolger and/or a member of the Cazes Family. Three generations of stewardship by the Cazes Family have helped Lynch-Bages achieve its exceptional stature, and the past 35 years under the guidance of Jean-Michel Cazes have been a golden era. A fervent ambassador for Bordeaux, Jean-Michel’s enormous contributions have earned him France’s highest decoration, knighthood in the Legion of Honor.
Finally, how could this experience be complete without mention of the accommodations? The luxury Relais & Châteaux recognized hotel and restaurant Château Cordeillan-Bages sits neatly in front of Lynch-Bages. A converted 18th-century mansion tucked on the outskirts of Pauillac, the winning couple will spend three nights here and enjoy dinner at the Michelin-starred restaurant. The concierge service of this elegant property will also arrange two visits to 1855 Classified Growth wineries in the mythical Médoc.
If you’ve been dreaming, this is the perfect time to wake up.
