Marchesi Antinori is one of the legendary names in Italian wine, with a legacy dating back to 1385. Piero Antinori, the 25th generation to lead the house, single-handedly revolutionized Tuscan wine in the 1970s by blending Cabernet Sauvignon into his flagship Chianti Classico Tignanello, thus igniting the Super Tuscan revolution. Through a combination of visionary leadership and meticulous attention to quality, the Antinori family has elevated the image of Italian wine around the world.

The winning bidder on this lot will spend six glorious nights in Italy and have the opportunity to experience five of the Antinori wine estates at close range. With vineyard visits, private tastings and meals at Michelin-starred restaurants, you will come away with an exposure to the very best that modern Italy has to offer.

Your adventure begins in the city of Florence. You’ll spend two nights at Palazzo Antinori, one of the best-known examples of Florentine Renaissance architecture, purchased in 1506 by Niccolò di Tommaso Antinori. The Palazzo has been the family’s private residence for over 500 years and has housed the Cantinetta Antinori since 1957. It is known for comfortable, elegant décor and a range of authentic Tuscan specialties.

You’ll have lunch at Procacci Wine Bar, a chic and intimate establishment known for dishes containing truffles and a complete assortment of Antinori wines. Traditional Florentine cuisine will be on display at Buca Lapi, the city’s oldest restaurant, founded in 1880 in the Palazzo Antinori cellars. Don’t miss the signature Bistecca alla Fiorentina, a Tuscan porterhouse cooked on the charcoal grill and sprinkled with extra virgin olive oil.

No visit to Florence is complete without a stop at the famed Uffizi Gallery with a private guided tour to help you make the most of your visit. The Uffizi inherited the art collection of the ruling House of Medici when their dynasty died out. Some of the best-known works include Michelangelo’s The Holy Family, Leonardo da Vinci’s The Annunciation and Adoration of the Magi, Rembrandt’s Self-portrait as a Young Man and creations by Botticelli, Raphael, Titian and Caravaggio.

From Florence, you’ll journey to the heart of Chianti Classico for a two-night stay at Tenuta Tignanello, home of the vineyards for both Tignanello and Solaia. The estate extends over 800 acres, nearly half of which are devoted to hillside vineyards. The manor house dates to 1346, and it was owned by the Medici family before the Antinoris acquired it in the mid-1800s. You’ll enjoy a private tour and tasting at the winery, followed by dinner at Villa Tignanello.

During your visit to Antinori nel Chianti Classico, you’ll taste that property’s signature wines: Chianti Classico Pèppoli, Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva and the dessert wine of Vinsanto Marchese Antinori. You’ll have lunch at Rinuccio 1180, located on the roof of the winery, known for rustic Tuscan food in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Your immersion into Antinori’s Chianti properties will also include a visit to Badia a Passignano, located south of the Tignanello estate in one of the most beautiful parts of the region, respected for winemaking since the year 1000. The Sangiovese grapes grown there are used to produce Badia a Passignano Gran Selezione, which is aged in the historic cellars underneath the Badia (abbey). While there, you’ll dine at the Michelin-starred Osteria di Passignano and partake of local delicacies such as artichokes, veal shank ravioli, roe deer and guinea fowl.

It’s now time to travel by helicopter from Chianti Classico to Bolgheri on the Etruscan Coast, one of Italy’s most exciting wine regions. You’ll stay at the Tombolo Talasso Beach Resort, with rooms overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, during your visit to Guado al Tasso.

Guado al Tasso is a large estate of 900 acres located in the rolling hillsides known as the “Bolgheri Amphitheater,” blessed with ample sunshine and coastal breezes that temper both the summer heat and winter cold. You’ll have a private tour and tasting at the winery before dining at Osteria del Tasso, known for its interpretation of classic Bolgheri dishes such as cured meats, cod fish, venison and beef.

From Bolgheri, it’s just a short helicopter ride to Orvieto in Umbria, where the Antinori estate of Castello della Sala towers over the Apennine Mountains. Originally built in 1350, Castello della Sala today is a large estate with over 400 acres planted to white wine grape varieties. Under the direction of famed enologist Renzo Cotarella, the property has become universally known for a complex Chardonnay capable of extended bottle aging. You’ll dine at Castello della Sala and enjoy a visit to the historic city of Orvieto.

As you leave Italy, you’ll reflect on the fact that you’ve managed to visit five spectacular wine estates in three different regions, illuminated by personal tours and tastings, accompanied by some of the country’s finest food. To remember your experience, you’ll take home a rare collection of Large Format bottles of both Tignanello and Guado al Tasso in recent vintages.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see the Italian countryside through the eyes of the Antinori family!
