You are invited to three days of “La Dolce Vita” in Napa Valley. This lot brings it all to you, and all of it while on an excursion designed to pay homage to the Italian heritage of Dalla Valle Vineyards, one of Napa Valley’s most celebrated wineries.
For the two lucky couples who take home this lot, the adventure begins with three nights in a two-bedroom hillside terrace Suite at Meadowood Napa Valley. These suites are created with luxury and private in mind, offering such posh perks as stone fireplaces, oversized soaking tubs and – best of all – spacious decks, where you may indulge your senses and overlook the lush, wooded hillsides of Napa and prepare for the taste of Italy that awaits.
Once you’ve settled in, you’ll make your way to Dalla Valle Vineyards, normally closed to the public, for a private tour and tasting. Recognized as one of Napa Valley’s preeminent family-run wineries, Dalla Valle was founded in 1986 by the late Gustav Dalla Valle, who hailed from Northern Italy, and his wife, Naoko. It has earned acclaim as one of the New World’s most celebrated wine estates, yielding wines of unrivaled character and complexity, vintage after vintage.
Today, Dalla Valle is run by the mother-and-daughter team of Naoko and Maya Dalla Valle, and together, they are dedicated to building on Dalla Valle’s legacy as one of the world’s most revered small wineries. Together with your traveling companions, you’ll enjoy an exclusive dinner at the Oakville home of Naoko, which she will host along with Maya. The dinner will be prepared by none other than 2019 NWWF Chef de Cuisine Richard Reddington and paired with older vintages of Maya and other treasures from Naoko’s private cellar.
But no nod to Italy could be complete without a stop by an artist’s studio. That’s why this itinerary includes a visit to the Calistoga villa of Carlo Marchiori, where you’ll sip on vintage Champagne, take a tour of his studio and savor an Italian-style dinner. With the advantage of his traditional heritage and classic art education, Carlo is known to create a close interpretation of Renaissance, Baroque and Neo-classic painting styles – yet these interpretations go beyond the formulaic, as he injects soul, whimsy and freshness into his works.
Finally, as your excursion draws to a close, you’ll gather with your traveling companions at the Three-star Michelin, The Restaurant at Meadowood, where you will enjoy modern American cuisine prepared by chef Christopher Kostow for a finale dinner. As a keepsake of your Italian sojourn, you’ll take home four Magnums of Dalla Valle Vineyards wines – two each of the 2013 MDV Cabernet Sauvignon and 2015 Dalla Valle Vineyards Maya Red Blend. Bravo!
Italy is closer than you think – and one paddle wave puts you there!
