Experience the jewels of Central Italy in the hands of Florence’s premier jeweler, Fratelli Piccini, and a luxury stay at Monteverdi Tuscany. During your first seven magical days, CEO Elisa Tozzi Piccini will take you on a tour of Italy’s undiscovered treasures, followed by three relaxing nights at Monteverdi Tuscany in the Siena Province.
For 120 years, Fratelli Piccini has been turning the creation of high jewelry into a fine art. Working from their studio on the Ponte Vecchio, overlooking the river Arno, the firm is the only one still designing and creating jewels in their own atelier. With a strong desire to keep their artisan craft alive, Fratelli Piccini has created scholarships to train jewelers. In this way, Fratelli Piccini is literally “handcrafting the future.”
Your experience begins in Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, with a four-night stay at the unique and award-winning The Place Firenze.
You’ll enjoy private visits to two of Florence’s most important museums, the Uffizi Archive at the Uffizi Gallery and the Museo Marino Marini. The Uffizi inherited the art collections of the House of Medici when their dynasty died out, and it houses a priceless artistic record of the Italian Renaissance with works by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, Raphael, Titian and Rembrandt.
Marino Marini was one of the most important artists and sculptors of the 20th century. The museum named for him is housed in the ancient church of San Pancrazio. You’ll have a private dinner, surrounded by drawings, paintings and sculptures spanning six decades. On another evening, you’ll dine privately on the Ponte Vecchio with Elisa Tozzi Piccini and Laura Piccini and have the opportunity to shop in the Fratelli Piccini atelier.
Before leaving Florence, you’ll travel to the Mugello Circuit racetrack outside the city and try your luck on the three-mile closed circuit with one of the Porsche Italia race cars. The track is used for Formula One testing and has hosted the Porsche Carrera Cup.
Ever fantasize about driving a Ferrari or Lamborghini down the Tuscan highway? On this trip, you can take your pick! Settle in behind the wheel of your personal super car and head for Maremma on the western coast of Tuscany.
During the next part of your adventure, you’ll stay at one of Maremma’s leading resorts and use the area as a jumping-off point to explore the greatness of the region’s wines. You’ll make the short trip to Gaiole in Chianti for a visit to Castello di Ama, where centuries-old winemaking traditions meet contemporary art in a 12th-century borgo (agricultural estate). In addition to Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva, the estate has gained fame for Haiku (a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc and Merlot) as well as L’Apparita.
In the Northern Maremma town of Bolgheri, you’ll visit one of the most famous Super Tuscans of them all—Ornellaia, founded in 1981 by Ludovico Antinori and now owned by the Frescobaldi Family. From their first vintage in 1985, Ornellaia gained fame for their Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Your visits to both properties will be leisurely, with a private tour followed by lunch. While in the region, you’ll also dine at Le Mortelle, Piero Antinori’s estate in Maremma located near Castiglione della Pescaia.
After saying farewell to Elisa, you will transfer to the province of Siena. During your final three nights, you will find relaxation in the countryside at the stunning Monteverdi Tuscany property, staying in the three-bedroom Villa Amiata. Watch the sunset over the Tuscan vineyards while sipping cocktails at the Terrace Bar; enjoy an intimate private dinner prepared by the executive chef, Giancarla Bodoni, in the culinary academy; and relax and unwind with one spa service per guest. Take a private tour of Nicola Bulgari’s antique car collection followed by a tour of the Tuscan countryside in two of his vintage convertibles.
High jewelry, fine art, history, fast cars and great wine and food—every moment of this amazing week will be filled with surprises planned by Elisa Tozzi Piccini and Laura Piccini and Monteverdi Tuscany. Raise your paddle and make La Dolce Vita yours!
