In the world of luxury cruising, Crystal Cruises is unique: they offer an unparalleled combination of caring, personal service, Michelin-inspired cuisine throughout 11 unique dining venues and award-winning entertainment, including Broadway-style shows and some of the best enrichment and entertainment programs at sea. It’s little wonder that Crystal Cruises is the most-awarded luxury cruise line.
Begin with several enchanted nights in Monte Carlo, add one week on the Crystal Symphony exploring the French and Italian Rivieras, and you’ll have an experience you’ll think about for years to come.
Say goodbye to the U.S. with a celebratory, bon voyage brunch at a top restaurant on 5th Avenue South in Naples, Florida. Indulge in world class cuisine as you prepare yourselves for the journey ahead.
When you arrive in Monte Carlo, you’ll spend two nights at the grand Hotel Metropole, located on the Carré d’Or, just a few steps from the Casino. You’ll sleep in a luxurious Prestige Suite with a separate living room and terrace as well as a housekeeper to assist you with unpacking on arrival and packing for departure. Built in 1889, the Metropole has played host to film stars, politicians and European royalty. It is a world unto itself, combining old world graciousness and glamour with the height of modern convenience and sophistication.
You’ll enjoy lunch at YOSHI, the only Japanese restaurant on the Côte d’Azur to be awarded a Michelin Star. The sommelier will pair chef Takeo Yamazaki’s creations with the cellar’s collection of fine and rare Sake. In the evening, dine at the chic Lobby Bar, with décor reimagined by architect Jacques Garcia and accompanied by the musical atmosphere designed by Béatrice Ardisson. At your leisure, relax with a treatment at the Givenchy Spa – one of only three Givenchy Spas in the world.
Get ready to board the Crystal Symphony for a one-week sampling of the Mediterranean, with ports of call in both France and Italy. Known for its personalized, pampering service, the Symphony has a crew of 566 to look after 848 passengers. Crystal Cruises boasts some of the highest space to guest ratios in the industry. You’ll luxuriate in one of the Seabreeze Penthouse Suites, a spacious oasis with a private balcony and butler service.
The Crystal ships are famous for their cuisine, and you’ll have nearly one dozen dining venues to choose from. Waterside is the main dining room, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner; in the evening, choose between the classic menu of traditional dishes or the modern menu featuring more innovative choices. Umi Uma is supervised by celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa, and this popular eatery features both a sushi bar and a dining room for elaborate cooked dishes. Prego is the creation of famed Santa Monica restaurateur Piero Selvaggio as a homage to Italian cuisine, serving classics such as osso buco, lavender-infused duck and branzino. The Vintage Room offers an elegant dining enclave with rare wines displayed in glass cabinets. It can be booked at lunch or dinner for private parties of at least eight guests (at an additional charge). Silk, known for Chinese comfort food, features dramatic, eye-catching décor, along with dim sum, Mongolian lamb chops, Kung Pao chicken and Chilean sea bass in the evening. Don’t miss a meal at Churrascaria. It is Crystal Symphony’s nod to South American cuisine where waiters serve seven types of grilled meat from large metal skewers. Trident Grill, located midship, is a hugely popular venue that specializes in made-to-order fast food such as burgers, Reubens, chili and pizza.
Light fares can be found at Palm Court, which is a great spot for afternoon tea, and is served by waiters in tuxedos and tails, accompanied by finger sandwiches, petits fours and scones with jam and whipped cream. The Bistro is the place to enjoy pâtés, charcuterie and international cheeses in this faithful reproduction of a Parisian eatery. Don’t forget dessert! Scoops Ice Cream Bar will satisfy your sweet tooth with homemade cookies, frozen yogurt and decadent treats made with Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, served poolside. And of course, in-suite dining is always available.
During the voyage, you’ll visit a combination of large and small ports along the Mediterranean coast, including some rarely featured in cruise ship itineraries:
Your journey begins at the seaside resort of Marina di Carrara, famous for marble that was used to build the Roman Pantheon. Boasting a mild, year-round climate and a soft, sandy beach, Marina is equipped with every modern sporting facility and has a Club Nautico, a Sailing Club that participates in both national and international events. Take a ride to nearby Campocecina, at 4,000 feet above sea level, for a sweeping view of the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago, Corsica, the Maritime and the Graian Alps.
When you dock at Civitavecchia, the main port of Rome, you’ll have a full day to explore the Eternal City. Crystal Cruises offers interesting tours such as Rome Through the Eyes of Julius Caesar, a guided Rome Street Art and Food Fair tour, a trip through the city’s back streets on a golf cart and countryside excursions to Tivoli, Ostia and Castel Gandolfo.
Located just 20 miles outside Genoa on the Tigullio coast, Santa Margherita Ligure became a popular resort after World War II. Visit the castle, built by the Republic of Genoa in 1550 as a defense against attacks by North African pirates; tour the small fishing villages along the coast between Santa Margherita and Portofino; or use the town as a gateway to Cinque Terre, a string of five towns perched high on the Italian Riviera on steep, terraced hillsides.
Although Ajaccio, the largest city on the mountainous island of Corsica, was a favorite of high society in the 19th century, rivalling Monaco, Cannes and Nice, it’s better known today as the birthplace of Napoléon Bonaparte. Rich in history, the cobblestone streets of the old town are a haven for shoppers, and the seafront promenade along the Route des Sanguinaires leads to unspoiled, pristine beaches.
St. Tropez and Antibes express the essence of the French Riviera, yet each village is unique in its own way. St. Tropez has become famous as a playground for jetsetters and fashion models, but it has also served as an inspiration to painters such as Signac, Matisse, Pierre Bonnard and David Hockney. Antibes is the perfect medium between resort town and medieval escape, filled with parks and gardens and home to the Picasso Museum housing one of the world’s greatest collections.
You will remember the romance of France when you open your bottle 2008 Maison Albert Bichot Vosne-Romanée Domaine du Clos Frantin and your beauty of Italy when you pop the cork on your 2014 Fontodi Flaccianello della Pieve. Sip and savor as you relish your unforgettable trip.
Want to capture the sunlight and magic of both the French and Italian Rivieras? All you need to do is raise your paddle.
