Your trip will begin, as so many good things do, in the City of Light. Here, one couple will spend one night in a Suite at La Réserve Paris Hotel and Spa, where you’ll discover a refinement that reflects of the quintessence of 19th-century Parisian chic. Next, you’ll meet up with seven of your favorite friends for your great getaway to Château Cos d’Estournel in Bordeaux.
In charming, cosmopolitan Paris, tucked within the highly sought-after Eighth arrondissement, La Réserve offers elegant quarters and personalized service — not to mention Michelin Two-starred dining at its Le Gabriel restaurant, where you are welcome to enjoy one breakfast and one lunch during your stay. Situated on the Right Bank of the River Seine and centered on the Champs-Élysées, this fashionable neighborhood is home to luxury retail shops and art museums, including the Grand Palais with its high-profile exhibitions. You are in the most desirable spot to stroll, sightsee and shop the streets of Paris, making memories as you go.
Unfortunately, the time will come to say au revoir to Paris—but, fortunately, that’s when you’ll meet with seven fun-loving friends to share a wonderful wine experience in Bordeaux at Château Cos d’Estournel. What a great “friends night” you’ll have at “La Chartreuse of Cos d’Estournel!”
The private family guesthouse of Cos d’Estournel owner, Michel Reybier sits at the heart of the vineyard. The private accommodations for you and your seven guests include dedicated staff, two Suites and six bedrooms, a library, a dining room, a lounge, an indoor swimming pool, a gym and a steam room. In the basement, you will find a hammam, a treatment room and a small heated pool with a current against which to swim. The terrace, with superb views of the garden and outdoor swimming pool, is available for al fresco dining.
During your stay at La Chartreuse de Cos d’Estournel, go behind-the-scenes to experience life on the vineyard. As a special guest of the Estate, you will be guided through the winemaking process by the technical team, while enjoying a private, in-depth tour of the vineyard and a tasting of the prestigious Cos d’Estournel wines. You will also enjoy a private tour of their gravity-flow cellar, which is packed with bottles of Cos d’Estournel dating back to 1887. Your evening will be capped off with a gourmet dinner prepared for you by the estate chef with local produce and paired with wines from the property.
Literally translated as “The Hill of Pebbles,” Cos d’Estournel’s elevation and gravelly soil contribute to the intensity of the wines produced from the Château’s 247 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. One of the original “Super Seconds,” connoisseurs and critics alike believe it is today on par with the Premier Crus.
While in Bordeaux and while the gang’s all here, you are also invited to sip, savor and sightsee your way around the renowned region on a fabulous bike tour. To enjoy at home, the new star of your cellar will be one Balthazar bottle of the well-balanced, savory and elegant 2000 Cos d’Estournel, which boasts a 97 rating from Robert Parker, Jr.
For these wonderful days of wining and dining, you better start bidding.
