The Michael Family invites two couples to enjoy a uniquely personal experience at their home estate in California and at their property in England, The Vineyard Hotel. The winning bidder will also garner an exceptional collection of wines for their own cellar, each signed by Paul Michael, including a Magnum of the nearly-unobtainable Point Rouge, from the 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 vintages as well as one Double Magnum bottle of 2013 Les Pavots and one Double Magnum bottle of 2013 Au Paradis.
You’ll be warmly welcomed by the winery staff upon arrival for your private two-night stay at Emily & Paul’s personal residence in Knights Valley, Sonoma County. Affectionately known as “The Cabin,” these comfortable quarters are the beloved and historic home of the second and third generations of the Michael Family.
Every moment in Sonoma will be memorable…
…a picnic lunch at the family’s little-known and much cherished secret private picnic spot, Côte Deux Mille, with a soaring view of the vineyards framed by the venerable Mount St. Helena. Winery chef Jacob Kossmann will create a bespoke menu for the picnic, which will be paired with wines from Peter Michael Winery.
…a private dinner at Sir Peter’s personal residence, on the deck overlooking the lovely and extensive gardens, where Chef Kossmann will prepare a seasonal tasting menu expertly paired with wines from Peter Michael Winery.
…a private tour of the vineyards, climbing to 2,000 feet above sea level, with vineyard manager Javier Aviña. Afterwards, a private tasting hosted by winemaker Nicolas Morlet or consulting winemaker, Luc Morlet.
You’ll next be welcomed to The Vineyard Hotel in merry old England for two nights of luxurious indulgence in the picturesque Berkshire region on the outskirts of the historic market town of Newbury.
First, a bespoke tasting of English sparkling wines from the hotel’s renowned cellar, with 2019 “UK Sommelier of the Year,” Romain Bourger. You’ll have an opportunity to delve into the little-known craft of English winemaking.
Then—drum roll, please—the “Judgment of Paris” dinner! In a tribute to the near-mythological 1976 blind tasting, each of seven courses will be paired with two wines, one French, one Californian, allowing you to judge for yourselves.
