The House of Faiveley, founded in 1825, is first and foremost a domaine. Situated in the heart of Nuits-Saint-Georges, it has expanded strategically over seven generations to include holdings from prestigious Crus in both the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, as well as within the most renowned appellations of Côte Chalonnaise, such as Mercurey. Today, Domaine Faiveley’s holdings total more than 296 acres and over 80 percent of its wines now come from family-owned vineyards, with the balance from select vineyards under long-term arrangements.
In December 2004, after directing the family domaine for 30 years, François Faiveley handed over the reins to his son, Erwan—taking over as chairman and general manager of the family’s wine operations at the age of 25. Ever since, the wines have gradually moved towards a silkier and lighter touch. Faiveley wines are wildly acclaimed, having been consistently featured among Wine Spectator’s list of “Top 100” wines.
Drinking fine burgundies can be a life altering event, but as magnificent as it may be, it pales when compared to drinking exquisite wines at their birthplace. Enjoy Burgundy’s bounty during a one-of-a-kind visit to Domaine Faiveley. Three lucky couples will be given a private tour of the Domaine and its underground cellars, guided personally by Erwan Faiveley.
After the tour, you’ll will then enjoy sitting down to a sumptuous dinner with Erwan, as well as an extraordinary tasting of five generations of Faiveley wines from the ‘20s, ‘30s, ‘40s, ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, ‘00s, and 2010s. When you have the opportunity and honor of spending time with a family member at a family winery, the experience is very personal and truly special. Who knows, you may even hear some “family secrets” from nearly 200 years of winemaking!
While in Burgundy, you will also enjoy two nights of luxurious accommodations and the opportunity to spend a beautiful day on a biking excursion through the vineyards breathing the fresh Bourgogne air. Once home, delight in the memories with six Magnums of Domaine Faiveley Grand Cru wines, each numbered #001 and from the 2015 vintage, which has been hailed as one of the great vintages of the century.
If you adore Burgundy, you’ll be crazy about this experience—and crazy not to go for it.
