“It’s rugged, hidden, raw—untamed, like the Old West.” These are the words of Will Harlan, a member of the second generation of the Harlan Family, in whose capable and proven hands the Promontory Vineyard and Winery are receiving rave reviews.
Isolated in its canyon from the rest of Napa Valley, the Promontory territory remains as free from human impact as possible, as the Harlans firmly believe this protection preserves the character of the wines. You will be among the few to ever explore the territory with its dramatic slopes and panoramic exposures—and it is in this wildly magnificent setting that you’ll share a very special dinner with Will, prepared by Michelin Three-starred chef Christopher Kostow.
But first, you’ll spend an extraordinary afternoon with your close friends visiting the Promontory winery in Oakville. Thick concrete walls start deep underground and soar overhead, evoking the majesty of the surrounding forested canyons and peaks. Your tour takes you 20 feet underground to the elegantly appointed cask room where beauty meets utility.
You’ll enjoy an intimate introduction to the philosophy and vision for the Harlan Family’s latest winegrowing endeavor, and a library tasting of wines aging in cask. During this 11-year vertical tasting of PROMONTORY 2008—2018, each of the four couples will select the vintages they absolutely must have for their personal wine cellar—one Double Magnum, two Magnums and six bottles per couple. With every bottle you uncork at home, you will relive this beautiful experience.
Accommodations will be furnished by the valley’s premier luxury hideaway, Meadowood Napa Valley, a world-class destination for discerning travelers, prized for its natural setting, gracious hospitality and Michelin Three-starred dining experience. The private, two-hundred-fifty-acre wine country resort holds a rare Triple Five-star rating from Forbes Travel Guide–Five stars for the hotel, restaurant, and spa. A longstanding member of Relais & Châteaux, Meadowood has played a central role in the social, cultural, economic, and philanthropic life of Napa Valley for more than forty years.
Raise your paddle for the perfect combination of rugged, refined and relaxed.
Airfare to California and ground transportation while in California is not included. Accommodations at Meadowood Napa Valley will be based on availability and are to be scheduled for two (2) consecutive nights from Sunday through Wednesday only with the exception of August, September, October and November. Visit to Promontory is subject to mutually agreeable dates and availability. Some of the vintages selected by the winning bidders may not be released from the winery until later years.
