Grace & Ken Evenstad, seeking the best site in the world for growing and producing world-class Pinot Noir, settled in the Dundee Hills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley in 1989. They invested in a 42-acre hilltop estate that had just been logged—and Domaine Serene was born. Since its inception, that property and the Evenstads have been recognized as iconic producers of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on the global stage by collectors and critics alike.
The Evenstads have created the perfect Pacific Northwest discovery tour for two couples to explore the thriving Portland culinary scene, along with an exciting experience at their winery, Domaine Serene, located in the world-renowned Dundee Hills of the Willamette Valley.
Grace & Ken Evenstad invite you to begin your visit by wining and dining in downtown Portland staying at the historic, high-end Sentinel hotel, located downtown with some of the finest shopping in the city just a quick stroll away.
That evening, guests will be treated to a complimentary wine tasting at the trendy Domaine Serene Wine Lounge, located in the lobby of the Sentinel Hotel. Then, you will either travel by car or walk a few blocks for a beautiful dinner at the renowned Headwaters Restaurant, founded by the James Beard Award-winning chef Vitaly Paley.
Day two starts with a complimentary breakfast at the hotel, before traveling in style to wine country. Just a quick car-ride away, you will be ushered into your own personal helicopter at the local helipad to enjoy a brisk 45-minute helicopter ride. Take in the stunning scenery as you fly over the six Domaine Serene Vineyard Estates before landing at the Clubhouse at Domaine Serene for an afternoon of elegance.
Once at the estate, guests will check into the Winery Hill House to relax and enjoy three evenings of majestic views on the Winery Hill Vineyard Estate. The nights ahead will be full of breathtakingly gorgeous sunsets while enjoying Domaine Serene’s award-winning Pinot Noir, Chardonnay or Rosé on your personal patio. The Winery Hill House will feature a continental breakfast each morning and select Domaine Serene wines.
After settling in, guests are invited downstairs into the underground caves of the Clubhouse at Domaine Serene to enjoy the bounty of Oregon and Burgundy with a “45th Parallel Experience.” This exclusive culinary journey is a chef-driven, four-course, eight-wine and food pairing that explores Domaine Serene’s Oregon vineyard estates alongside wines from the Evenstad’s French winery, Château de la Crée, located in the historic Côte d’Or region of France.
As part of your stay at Domaine Serene, you will have use of a four-door BMW to traverse the Willamette Valley in style. Enjoy a late afternoon wine tasting or dinner in nearby McMinnville, which was named by Bon Appétit magazine as one of the nation’s “foodiest” towns.
The following morning, enjoy a private vineyard tour and barrel tasting with Domaine Serene’s winemaker, Michael Fay. The exclusive visit will culminate with you selecting the perfect barrel for your special, one-of-a kind-bottling (two cases per couple!) of Domaine Serene wine. Later that day guests are cordially invited to the home of co-founders and owners Grace & Ken Evenstad to sip fine wines and enjoy a walk through their gardens to view some of the greatest vineyards in the world.
This divine day of tasting will conclude with an evening of delicious French dining at Bistro Maison, located in quaint and historic McMinnville. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy the best of the Willamette Valley wine country.
