For more than a century, winemakers around the world have sought to emulate the extraordinary quality of Bordeaux’s famed First Growths. How well they have fared in their attempts is a matter for debate. What is for certain is that, within the handful of the legendary wineries that are the First Growths, there is one Château that has consistently set the standard for Bordeaux decade after decade—Château Lafite-Rothschild.

The Château has been owned by the same branch of the Rothschild Family since 1868, with 2018 marking the family’s 150th anniversary as owners. Those responsible for steering this national treasure are Saskia de Rothschild and Jean-Guillaume Prats. Saskia is the first female chair in the history of Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite (DBR), and Jean-Guillaume Prats is the president and CEO of DBR following five years as president and CEO of the wine division of Louis Vuitton Moët-Hennessy.

This collection of extraordinary wines is meant to tell the story of one of the world’s greatest Châteaux; both through the remarkable retrospective of its wines and through the people who know it best, Saskia and Jean-Guillaume. The six Magnums span six decades, each vintage a highlight of the Château’s style. Similarly, the nine bottles also are from six different decades, including an incredibly rare 115-year-old bottle of the 1905 vintage.

To pick one of these wines to highlight above the others would be like picking your favorite child; however, it would be impossible to deny that many of these vintages are superstars. The millennial vintage of 2000 earned a perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker, Jr. upon release, noting that it possessed the “ethereal elegance and purity that is always Lafite.” Or perhaps your palate will run to Bordeaux’s vintage of the century—1982. That Lafite also earned not only a perfect score from Parker, Jr., it was called “the modern-day equivalent of Lafite-Rothschild’s immortal 1959.”

What to pair with the finest of the wines that Bordeaux has to offer? Well, a luxury trip to Bordeaux to experience it firsthand. Three couples will be whisked to Bordeaux from Paris at over 200 miles per hour on France’s high-speed rail, the TGV, to spend two nights in luxury accommodations in the famed region. Ground transportation will also be provided during the stay.

Mon Dieu! One evening will feature dinner at the private home of the Rothschild Family at Château Lafite in Pauillac, France—across the table from Saskia de Rothschild or Jean-Guillaume Prats—as the conversation and Château Lafite Rothschild flows. The wines that may be served at your rare and wonderful dinner will undoubtedly surprise and delight. To say this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity would not be an exaggeration.

The magnificent bid that secures this magnificent experience is a toast and a tribute to our 20th Anniversary and our very Honored Vintner!
