Experience the remarkable cultural imprint of French wine in two diverse settings over ten intriguing, fanciful days. Spend a full week at the Musique & Vin, a famous wine and music festival that draws glitterati from the world over and then retreat into an intimate setting for a few days with a leading French winemaker at his vineyard.
Musique & Vin creates a fusion between musicians of international fame and the winegrowers of Burgundy. It offers an amplified experience, a pleasure that appeals to both the ears and the palate. This unique ten-day festival presents some of the biggest names in classical music.
You’ll arrive in Beaune for seven nights in Grand Cru Suites at the five-star Hôtel le Cep from Monday–Monday, with daily buffet breakfast and a bottle of Champagne each evening. They will also have an opportunity to share a bottle of wine with the owner of the hotel, Jean-Claude Bernard, during their stay.
Your incredible host for the week, Greg Gregory has secured your four VIP tickets to the 2020 Musique et Vin–which includes attendance at concerts, wine tastings and dinners featuring world-renowned classical musicians. Enjoy Burgundian wine and cuisine and a Gala & Charity Auction on Sunday at Clos Vougeot, offering wines direct from the private cellars of Burgundy’s top Domaines.
You will enjoy exclusive access to the private club, the 1243 Bourgogne Society (founded by Bernard Hervet and Aubert de Villaine), with Greg Gregory for events, including intimate dinners with worldwide Burgundy collectors, private concerts with musicians participating in the festival and tastings with featured winemakers such as Aubert de Villaine, Étienne de Montille, Jeremy Seysses, Marie-Andrée Mugneret and others. Greg will also take you to various top Domaines throughout Burgundy for special tastings and toasts throughout the week.
On Saturday, attend a concert with young talents under the Place de la Halles Beaune with the L’Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne. While the festival has gained a certain reputation among the greatest artists of the classical and operatic scene, they have remained faithful to the first vocation of Musique et Vin, which is to allow the expression of young talents and to help launch their careers. Since 2008, they have distributed 17 scholarships to young French, American, Chinese, Korean and South American musicians. Later that evening, you will return to 1243 Bourgogne Society for the La Paulée event where Greg and fellow club members will open legendary Burgundies.
After a week engaging with the world’s wine and music community, it’s time for a few days in a more private, intimate setting.
The fun begins when Rotem & Mounir Saouma greet you upon your arrival in Avignon like old friends for a jaunt through the Villages of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Bédarrides and Courthézon to point out the various terroirs that influence the taste of locally grown wines. You’ll taste the difference for yourself, stopping at vineyards, while getting an overview of the appellations and hearing about different grapes, various winemaking techniques and the histories of the wine.
Afterward, at the Saouma’s Domaine in Orange, tour the vineyard, visit the winery and taste wines from the same grapes made in three different styles: Classic, Amphorae and their secret technique with the stones in the wine. Mounir will also show you wines from different varietals of the same vintage and same terroir. Enjoy lunch in the winery or in the vineyard outside paired with a few Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Burgundy wines, including special wines that aren’t for sale.
After lunch, couples will be presented with six bottles from the Saouma’s private selection that are not for sale or available in the marketplace, as well as honey and olive oil from the Domaine. After your afternoon with the Saoumas head back to Avignon and spend two additional nights in a luxurious hotel to further explore this incredible region prior to taking the train back to Paris.
