Experience the stunning sights and sounds, taste the renowned wines, explore the heart of southern Africa—in exceptional luxury and comfort. One couple will set off on a magnificent 18-day adventure, from the lush Cape Winelands to Namibia’s stark desert beauty to the breathtaking beaches of Mozambique. Your African adventure will take you seamlessly into the landscapes, art, architecture, culture, wine and wildlife of this majestic continent.
You’ll touch down in Cape Town, the stylish outpost at the tip of Africa. Surrounded by the wild waters of the Atlantic and the graceful rolling hills of the Cape Winelands, Cape Town boasts a rich history, vibrant local culture and stunning landscapes. Here, you will meet the exclusive group you’ll be traveling with and spend time exploring the city’s cultural and natural offerings.
As you get into the groove on days two and three, enjoy tours and tastings at some of the world’s finest wineries in the Stellenbosch region where you’ll encounter the rich terroir of South Africa. Set on the banks of the Eerste River, Stellenbosch is South Africa’s second oldest town, established in the heart of the fertile Cape Winelands. There are hundreds of acclaimed vineyards scattered around the verdant valleys framed by a series of gentle peaks. Also, make sure to visit some of the area’s renowned art collections.
Prepare yourself for a dramatic contrast as you arrive in Sossusvlei, Namibia, set within the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The largest conservation area on the continent, Sossusvlei’s immense and mesmerizing sand dunes, sweeping desert vistas and endemic wildlife will captivate you. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the sand dunes on a 4×4 trek into the desert, soar over the landscape in a hot air balloon and visit an ancient canyon carved over millions of years.
In Zimbabwe on days seven and eight, you will encounter the majesty of Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage site. As the Zambezi River plunges over the edge of a basalt plateau, the falls thunder down a series of gorges and create a rainbow mist that can be seen from more than twelve miles away. Scottish explorer Dr. David Livingstone named the falls for the queen; however, the awe-inspiring cascades are called Mosi-oa-Tunya (the smoke that thunders) by the local Makololo people.
Heading north to Zambia, you are now approaching diverse and fascinating populations of wildlife. South Luangwa National Park encompasses the southernmost end of the Great Rift Valley and is home to a variety of wildlife that congregates around the banks and lagoons of the South Luangwa river. In this remote location, you’ll spot leopards, hippos, lions and perhaps even the family of elephants that wander in to snack on the mangos at your lodge.
Then, you arrive in paradise! By the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean in Mozambique, Diamonds Mequfi Beach Resort awaits you. You will relish every moment, from the relaxation of white-sand beaches and Mvua African Rain Spa, to the exhilaration of snorkeling and kayaking through the waves.
There’s more adventure in store at the Sabi Sands Reserve, a private concession bordering Kruger National Park in South Africa, home to one of densest concentrations of wildlife in the world. Accompanied by expert naturalist guides, search for lions, buffalo, leopards, African bush elephants and rhinoceros in some of the most spectacular landscapes on the continent.
Grootbos Nature Reserve is an extraordinary wrap-up to an extraordinary trip. A magical private nature reserve by the sea, it encompasses more than 6,000 acres and is home to thousand-year-old forests, hundreds of endangered and endemic plant species, and the marine Big Five of whales, sharks, seals, penguins and dolphins.
