The winning bidders will join Red to experience a series of remarkable pictures: photos of a culture expressed through wine, food, history and the dynamic legacy of a great wine family. For eight generations and nearly 200 years, Tasca d’Almerita has spearheaded Sicilian agriculture and winemaking through passion, innovation and perseverance, preserving their heritage at five different estates on the island. Their story is written in the land they cultivate, guard and have passed down to their descendants. It is a family business that has led Sicily to be recognized as one of the most fascinating and varied wine regions in the world.

Your journey of exploration begins at Tenuta Regaleali, the mother estate of Tasca d’Almerita since 1830 and a global leader in sustainable viticulture. The late Conte Lucio Tasca d’Almerita, founder of the estate, was a pioneer who introduced international grape varieties to Sicily and opened the island to a global audience. You’ll sample their exceptional range of wines from the introductory Regaleali Bianco and Nero d’Avola to the flagship Rosso del Conte, the first single vineyard wine produced in the region. You’ll have a unique exposure to local crafts such as majolica, a form of pottery making where elaborate designs are overlaid onto the objects with tin or lead-based artwork.

At Regaleali, dinner is served family-style in the villa’s living room, where you can mingle with the estate manager and enologist over a glass of wine and plate of pasta. You’ll even leave with the recipes for the family’s favorite dishes revealed during a cooking class with the estate chef. The atmosphere of the estate is personal rather than commercial, and after three nights you’ll feel like an adopted member of the clan.

It’s time to travel to Taormina, on the island’s east coast, for a visit to the family’s Tascante winery. Situated on the slopes of Mount Etna, Tascante benefits from volcanic soil, which contributes to the unique flavor profiles of its wines. It specializes in indigenous Sicilian grape varieties, particularly Nerello Mascalese and Carricante, producing both red and white wines; it also emphasizes sustainable viticulture, focusing on organic farming methods to preserve the environment and enhance wine quality. Please change to: They are well known for their Etna Bianco made of Carricante and their Etna Rosso Contrade wines made of the Nerello Mascalese grape; these signature red wines display both elegance and complexity and feature notes of red fruits, spices and minerals.

Your home in Taormina will be the San Domenico Palace, an oasis of luxury. Perched on a rocky promontory high above the Ionian Sea, you’ll experience the charm of a reimagined 14th-century Sicilian convent, swim in the clifftop infinity pool with breathtaking sea views and stroll in their magnificent Italian gardens. During your visit to Tascante, you’ll not only sample their exceptional range of volcanic-influenced wines but also visit Mount Etna itself, guided by a volcanologist (a geologist who focuses on the formation and eruptive activity of volcanoes).

To preserve the memory of this enchanting journey, the winning bidders will receive a collection of Tasca d’Almerita’s best wines in Large Format, including a Three Liter bottle of the 2018 Tenuta Regaleali Rosso del Conte.

Red hopes you’ll bid high and often for this immersion into the heritage of one of Sicily’s most celebrated wine families. In this process, you’ll be establishing a heritage for the children of the future.
