The refined mansion in the style of Napoléon III serves as a frame for the Three Michelin-starred cuisine of Chef Jérôme Banctel. A native of Brittany, the chef combines his heritage with influences as diverse as Japan and Turkey. Michelin has praised him as a “cosmopolitan alchemist” who creates full-bodied, concentrated sauces that provide a range of sensations and flavors that unite everything harmoniously.

From Paris you’ll travel to Bordeaux for an insider’s view of Château Cos d’Estournel, ranked as a Second Growth in the Classification of 1855. One of the region’s celebrated wines, Cos d’Estournel is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, displaying an opulent and voluptuous texture along with a myriad of scents and tastes. Situated adjacent to Château Lafite Rothschild on the border between Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe, the dramatic Oriental façade of the château announces its presence from a distance.

You’ll spend two nights at La Maison d’Estournel, a country home with informal yet attentive service and refined interior design, located next door to the château and vineyards. The serene, peaceful rooms provide an opportunity to relax and recharge in comfort; in the restaurant, the chef pays tribute to the region’s bounty with ingredients such as foie gras, mushrooms, truffles, wild strawberries and asparagus. During your visit, you’ll have a private tour of the château as well as an in-depth tasting that will reveal the depth and complex layers of this remarkable wine.

The winning couple will receive a rare Five Liter bottle of 2018 Château Cos d’Estournel, a wine of richness and beauty. Finely structured and vibrant, it exhibits luscious fruit, fine tannins, flawless balance and an extremely long and lingering finish. It should age gracefully for decades to come.

This trip is for one (1) couple. Visit to be scheduled for mutually agreeable dates, based on availability, and blackout dates include, but are not limited to, the month of August. La Maison d’Estournel is only open from April to October. The meeting with Valérie Messika is based on her availability. If she is not available in person during the winners’ chosen travel dates, the winners will be offered the opportunity to meet over video. The dinners at Le Gabriel and La Maison d’Estournel will be served with one (1) bottle each of Cos d’Estournel White and Cos d’Estournel Red. One (1) of the dinners at Le Gabriel can be substituted for a dinner in The Duc de Morny Library at La Réserve Paris. Meals are only included as stated above, include gratuities and are served with select wines and non-alcoholic beverages. Any additional meals, alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic beverages are not included. The winning couple will have the option to create a bespoke High Jewelry piece from one of Messika’s iconic collections. The cost of the piece will be at the winning bidders’ expense.
