Red’s mind is boggled by the amazing adventure waiting for two fortunate couples in Argentina: From the sophistication of Buenos Aires to the grandeur of Mendoza wine country, you’ll capture a panorama of culture, history, cuisine and wine. Best of all, the wine portion of your trip will be led by Dr. Laura Catena, managing director of Catena Zapata, Argentina’s most famous winery. A Harvard- and Stanford-educated physician, Laura also operates her own Luca Winery and is known worldwide as the “face” of Argentine wine for her active role in promoting the region and Argentine Malbec.

Founded in 1902, Catena Zapata pioneered the resurrection of Malbec. Laura’s father, Nicolás, is credited with putting Argentine wine on the world map, while the family’s Adrianna Vineyard at nearly 5,000 feet elevation is considered the Grand Cru of South America.

Your journey begins in Buenos Aires, a multicultural capital frequently called “the Paris of South America.” You’ll explore Laura Catena’s Italian heritage through the streets of La Boca and San Telmo, Recoleta’s elegant architecture and Palermo’s lively dining scene, inspired by Italy’s culinary legacy. A visit to the Immigrant Museum and landmarks tied to Pope Francis—his childhood home, churches where he was baptized and called to priesthood and the Metropolitan Cathedral, where he served as archbishop—trace the path of Argentina’s first pontiff.

It takes two to tango, and fortunately there are four of you. The Argentine national dance originated in the 1880s along Río de la Plata, the natural border between Argentina and Uruguay. Your group will have a private lesson and learn the steps of this passionate ballet, after which you’ll attend the Rojo Tango (Red Tango) show at the opulent Faena Hotel.

From Buenos Aires you’ll fly to Mendoza, the epicenter of the Argentine wine industry. Unwind with a massage at your Five-star hotel before dinner at Michelin-starred Azafrán. The next day, you’ll be welcomed at La Vendimia, the Catena family’s personal retreat. While there, you will experience a traditional asado, wine by the pool, a bocce game or carriage ride and a private empanada-making class, capped by a lively folklore dance.

The finale of your journey will be a day at the world-renowned Catena Zapata pyramid-shaped winery, where you will get a private vineyard tour exploring the viticulture and history of the Malbec grape. You’ll dive into the science of winemaking with a visit to the Catena Institute of Wine. After a Celtic Astrological tasting that will allow you to discover your “tree” linked to your birth date, you’ll transition to a guided meditation by the reservoir or distillery, breathing to connect with the Earth and culminate with moments of gratitude before slowly returning to the present. Finally, you’ll lunch at the Michelin-starred Angélica Cocina Maestra with a ten-course dining experience called “Wine First,” where every aspect of their cooking revolves around wine and not the other way round.

This lot also includes a stunning collection of Bodega Catena Zapata bottles, including their signature wines as well as the White Bones Chardonnay and Adrianna Vineyard River Malbec from their high-altitude Adrianna Vineyard.

Red envies every moment you’ll spend on this epic journey, where the legacy of Argentine wine extends through the generations. Your generous bid on this lot will secure another legacy for the next generation of children.
